VERNARCH A MEDITERRANEAN FORUM…

…FOR THE CONSERVATION OF ARCHITECTURAL SKILLS AND ART
A CULTURE 2000 PROJECT
Euris Consult Ltd., European Consultancy Firm based in Malta, is seeking possible partners for an application for funding under the EU Culture 2000 Programme on behalf of our client, the Local Council of the town of Zejtun, Malta.

The project we have come up with consists in the setting up of a ‘Mediterranean Forum for the Conservation of Vernacular Architectural Skills and Art’. This will basically involve:

1. the organisation of lectures and workshops in each of the States involved in the project, focusing on the exchange of knowledge and skills in the quarrying, conservation and artistic manipulation of the typically Mediterranean globigerina limestone;

2. Practical sessions involving the application of restoration and conservation techniques to selected buildings or monuments, spread around the participating States, which will serve as ‘models’ for the demonstration of the skills acquired;

3. Exhibitions of artistic works executed by artists specialised in stonework from the participating States;

4. The organisation of a final conference where representatives of each of the partners from the different participating States will present their conclusions and observations of the outcome of the project. The conference will also host a final exhibition of the major artistic works exhibited and virtual tours of the models involved in the project.
We are searching for potential co-organisers and partners, based especially in the Mediterranean region, who are willing to actively collaborate in the project by identifying potential lecturers, experts and artists as well as locating possible stonework models of cultural value for the implementation of the conservation/restoration works.

We look forward to hearing from you and remain at your disposal for any further information.

We would like to thank you in advance for your response and kindly ask you to get back to us as soon as possible due to the restricted time limits.
