Hal Saflieni Hypogeum
<img src=’http://whc.unesco.org/uploads/sites/site_130.jpg‘ target=’blank‘ align=’left‘ style=’padding:5px‘>The Hypogeum is an enormous subterranean structure excavated c. 2500 B.C., using cyclopean rigging to lift huge blocks of coralline limestone. Perhaps originally a sanctuary, it became a necropolis in prehistoric times.
