    artist or maker…
in a case of art conservation we would be speaking about artist to support the philosophy of art historians. Art history was important to the development of conservation as a field..
I was thinking that conservators would prefer the other term I used: maker, therefor the slash. the term “maker” is also more objective i think.
This might be an interesting discussion about what is considered to be ART in general.

I guess I was really tired when I was formulating this quiz..

It should be: What is your most common reason for removing prior repairs from objects..

Prior Repairs – to Remove or to Preserve?
Questions to ask in the decision making process:

    • Is it disfiguring (does it excessively impair the visual appreciation of the object)?
    • Does it now, or, will it later endanger the object in any way (stability, compatibility)?
    • Will the removal be stressful/dangerous for the object, now or
    later?
    • Is it culturally appropriate or spiritually significant?
    • Is it historically significant?
    • Is the artist’s/maker’s opinion regarding the restoration/repair
available, or, perhaps, is the restoration/repair an invention of
    the artist?
    • Is the cost/effect ratio of undertaking the reversal worth it?

    – IF SO, CAN ANY OF THESE PROBLEMS BE ADRESSED IN
    ANOTHER FASHION APART FROM REMOVAL?

I am interested to hear about your dillemas and experiences…
